listen to Hearts,Holiday and Homecoming this AM and continue to be amazed at the music. Willie Leacox is just perfect. His contribution is not just the timing and beat of the song. He adds a level of emotion that most drummers can't or don't. Going to see America at the Keswick in Pa.. Hope they play some of the newer stuff from Here and Now and do meet nad greet.
Willie Leacox is amazing. We actually got a chance to talk to him after a benefit concert in Stamford CT, and discovered that we like some of the same music. Enjoy the concert in Keswick, and I hope you get to hear more from Here and Now.

Willie a a highly disciplined professional who takes care of business.
Unlike some drummers, Willie is very well rounded, majored in piano in college. He handled musical technical issues with George Martin very well, same as GERRY & DEWEY, the musical gurus.
When I bought the album, seeing Willie on the front cover and inner sleeve, I believed that America was now a quartet.
There has been plenty of discussion about this subject on the older blogs and I remember one fan stated that Dewey, Gerry and Dan wanted to show Willie their appreciation for his imput on the album by including him on the cover....albeit, slightly in the shadows :)
I was once told a story about Willie's dry wit. Seems a fan mentioned to him about only appearing on one America album cover. Willie apparently said something like - "no..twice. I also appeared on the "History" cover". Technically Willie might have been right...although his image appears a little more blurred in the artwork of the late Phil Hartmann's brilliant cover design.
36 years on and Willie's still a huge part of this amazing band. That's Loyalty with a capital "L".
D G & D obviously had a great knack of picking very special musicians and mates to accompany them on their globetrotting musical journey.
