New stuff coming...
Posted on: 02/21/2022 06:01 PM
FYI: Gerry just announced a new solo album on the way soon via his Instagram account. Few details to share right now other than its on the way, and if you follow Gerry on social media you can stay in-tune. Also, and for serious America collectors--a new title called "Alternates & Rarities" will be available on Record Store Day April 23rd. More stuff from the vaults, and only on vinyl. You can give Jeff Larson a big "Thank You" as he's been keeping busy with producing/compiling all-things "America" and will continue on in that role....

Full track list should be out soon. Apparently a world-wide release from Rhino. Some of the tracks include "Lonely People"(vocals only), a Spanish version of "Sister Goldenhair", an acoustic version of "Company", some radio promos and a 1974 version of "Foolin." Will share more info when I see it...

I don't see myself purchasing this one either, plus its a vinyl only release--I'm not so die-hard anymore that I need every title the band puts out. I can tell you that there are other titles coming out down the line, with live music. I don't believe you'll see a new America duo album this year, but Gerry Beckley has a new solo album coming. No release date yet, but he's been hyping it on his instagram page. Not sure if you are on Facebook, but there is alot more activity there these days about the band than there is here on this chat folder, which has been dying a slow death over the years...

Thanks again Steve for keeping us updated. I don’t do Facebook or whatever they call it now. This and Steve Lowerys page is how I keep up with current news from the band. If you keep posting I’ll keep sifting!DanC

Hey Dan, I'll still post occasionally for guys like you and even Kevin Sutton who don't do Facebook--and a few others who pop in here from time to time. The numbers have really dropped over the years and I'm pretty sure its not even maintained by the admin(Rich)anymore. As I keep saying, most of the "action" and discussion is on the Facebook and Instagram pages...

Thanks Steve. I like to visit here often, seeing some old faces and reading up on the latest. So sorry to hear about Willie's passing. I met him years ago after a Sydney concert. I knew the CEO of the venue and after the concert he took me around to their dressing room and I had a good chat with Willie and Dewey. They were both very welcoming and good company.
Over the years I met some wonderful people here. Exchanged emails, posted and received America related items. Thank you all.

Nice to see you here Bluey--been a long time! Makes it easier to post upcoming info when you see some long time fans like you showing up again :) I was looking through some of my old messages here today and its amazing how many people I used to converse with who have disappeared. Maybe if there is news that has some appeal, the older fans will show up again....

I imagine the mail reason the activity on this site had dropped is because there isn't a lot of news about the band.
I, too, don't really have any plans to buy the LP if it's all just remixes of demos of songs that were better as released. The only reason I bought the 50th anniversary box set was for all the previously unreleased work. Those tracks were wonderful.
With no new work to look forward to, it feels we are just digging through the bottom of the pantry for crumbs. I'm not that hungry.

I would love to get the new rarities album, but I don't even own a record player anymore, so I couldn't play it if I had it. Hopefully they will release the songs on digital or CD format. I enjoy hearing demos and alternate versions of their songs. There are usually some forgotten treasures in the vaults.
I have all their previous "demos and rarities" albums: Archives, Heritage Vols 1 & 2, and 50th Anniversary.
